Martingale collars were first used for sighthounds like whippets and greyhounds. Also known as slip collars or limited-slip collars, you’ll find these collars deliver more control and support in some situations. If, for example, your dog tends to slip out of his regular collar, you may find a martingale keeps him in check. This means that your dog should only wear the martingale collar when with you; always remove any collar before crating your dog or before leaving your dog unsupervised. Inspect the collar regularly.

A quick release collar is a type of collar that is quick to put on and take off. This type of collar I make using covered super strong polypropylene and has a closure that makes it easier to get the collar on and off. This type of collar is also adjustable, which makes it possible to fit it to your dog’s neck perfectly.

Use a cloth measuring tape and measure your dog’s neck circumference. Make sure the tape is snug but not tight to be sure of a correct measurement. HHC always make sure the collar is adjustable a couple of cm’s smaller or larger.

Dampen a clean towel with warm water and press it against the area to rinse away the tweed friendly detergent. If the stain persists, you can try to apply the detergent again or dry clean the tweed item. Allow it to dry on a flat surface before using. Use another clean dry towel to absorb excess moisture from the area.

Place the wool garment into the bucket of wool friendly soapy water and dunk it to completely wet it. Then use your hands to gently swish the wool item around in the water for about a minute. This gentle swishing mimics the motion of a washing machine and allows the soap to pass through the wool and remove dirt or impurities.

If requested I can send information on recycled fabrics, I can also re-use old hardware from a worn out collar, a discount would be offered. Alternatively I can re-use the hardware for collars I donate to rescue centres.
